Abstract
The purpose of this action research paper was to find out if using technology in literacy will help the students in the researcher’s first grade class comprehend reading more efficiently. The researcher in this study choose to use observations and data from a test to determine if using just the concrete materials were enough or if the technology was able to help them comprehend more. The conclusion of the data the researcher learned was presented to administration in hopes that they will keep offering both the technology materials and the paperback concrete materials to the teachers.
The researcher also used the information learned to further her understanding of the importance of technology and the interaction between the researcher, technology and the students. This information helped develop more effective and efficient lessons for the students in the researcher’s first grade classroom.
