Abstract
A thought-provoking analysis of self-reflection covering the author’s life and background as seen through a counseling lens. Using peer reviewed research to support the reflection’s validity, the author goes into detail about the lived experience of purity culture, being a third culture kid, religious trauma, human development and attachment theory. Analysis of two personality assessments is included; the Myers-Briggs, and the Strong Interest inventory. Five interviews were conducted and the results analyzed for common themes that include empathy, listening skills, and setting boundaries. This thesis supports deep self-reflection and exploration to increase awareness of and reduce bias in the graduating counselor.
