Abstract
I lost my mother to colon cancer in 1995 at the age of twenty-five. I have experienced many deaths in my life. I was raised in a small town and lost touch with many friends in high school and college. I have learned to cope with the loss of friends through social media. By cultivating self-awareness, empathy, and self-care practices, I enhance my effectiveness in supporting students on their healing journey and upholding the ethical standards and principles of the counseling profession. Developing as a professional counselor involves a combination of ongoing education, practical experience, and personal growth. I plan to attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to stay updated on the latest research and therapeutic approaches. I want to engage in regular supervision with experienced counselors or mentors to receive feedback and guidance on challenging cases. seeking out opportunities to mentor or be mentored within the counseling community, I would join and actively participate in professional counseling organizations to connect with peers, access resources, and stay informed about trends. I would also like to pursue specialized training in specific therapeutic modalities or treatment approaches to expand the range of interventions available.
