Abstract
The target analysis company I chose to research and analyze was Shoe Carnival, Inc. (SCVL). SCVL is a family footwear retailer in the United States and is headquartered in Evansville, Indiana. SCVL was founded in 1978. The benchmark company I chose was Boot Barn Holdings, Inc (BOOT). BOOT is a footwear retailer that specializes in western and work-related footwear. BOOT is headquartered in Irvine, California and was founded in 1978. SCVL and BOOT both have the same Standard Industrial Classification Code (SIC) of 5561 – Shoe Stores. This SIC focuses in establishments in the retail sale of men’s, women’s, and children’s footwear. Examples in this category are retail footwear stores, retail athletic shoe stores, and retail shoe stores. I gathered and obtained the most recent six fiscal years of financial statements for both companies. I was able to analyze both companies financials in a financial analysis worksheet. Due to researching and analyzing the shoe store industry and financial statements of SCVL, I was able to conduct a financial analysis.
