Abstract
Duluth Holdings, Inc is an apparel retailer headquartered in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin despite being founded in Duluth, Minnesota. The foundations of this business are humanity, community, and sustainability (Our Story & History, n.d.). They were first established in 1989 and are most known for their adventurous and durable apparel while using humor to market the brand. The business includes sixty-six retail locations with multiple distribution channels and product offerings ranging from shirts, pants, and outerwear to underwear, accessories, and hard goods. This paper analyzes and discusses historical financial data for Duluth Holdings, Inc and an industry competitor, Lands’ End, Inc to compare financial performance over the period of 2015-2021. Activity, liquidity, and profitability ratios are used to examine the industry market and how Duluth Holdings, Inc compares as an individual in this market. In addition to these quantitative measures, qualitative measures are discussed including firm characteristics and industry characteristics.
