Abstract
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a disability that affects many people. Not only does it affect those who are diagnosed with it but it also significantly impacts their families. Those with the disability are supported through various types of therapy, special education services, and doctor’s aid. As families enter into this new journey with their child they often do not have the support that they need. When you find out a loved one is diagnosed with a disability or realize they are different, a person’s life can be completely turned around. I have done an extensive amount of research on the best practices for starting a support group. It is my opinion that a support group for families of children with special needs, specifically ASD, is something that is missing in many communities. This project will entail creating an online support group for those family members who need support. It will be a way for them to have their needs met so that they can better parent their child with special needs.
