Abstract

This plan b project is an implement ready peer mentoring program. Research and comprehensive knowledge of school counseling and student affairs have helped shape this school-based peer mentoring program manual. The manual will display all the necessary information to create and facilitate a peer mentoring program. Throughout the program, students involved will experience goal setting, relationship building, and accountability check-ins. The goal of the program is to create a positive school climate and increase rates of graduation while closing the achievement gap for at-risk youth. This manual will aid in mentor selection, mentee selection, mentor application and interview process, training mentors, pairing mentees with a mentor, evaluation procedures, and additional resources to create a successful school-based mentoring program
