Abstract

This report is an analysis of Johnson Outdoors Inc. financial statement that compares qualitative and quantitative data to the benchmark company of Escalade Inc. Johnson Outdoors Inc. and Escalade Inc. are competing in the industry of recreational and sporting equipment. Both companies are incorporated in the Midwest and are classified as small cap firms. Johnson Outdoors Inc. turned 50 years-old this year and has topped over $550 million in sales since then. The company focuses on product innovation, manufacturing, and selling in four niche industries of fishing, diving, camping, and watercraft recreation. From my analysis of the historical financial statements and examination of the forecasted financial position, both companies have continued to succeed in the market, but Johnson Outdoors Inc. has grown at a fast rate and is performing at a slightly higher level compared to Escalade Inc. In conclusion of my analysis, I believe Johnson Outdoors Inc. common shares are undervalued as the company has continued to grow according to its historical financial statements. The company truly respects and values its shareholders. I recommend that an investor should either hold on to its shares of Johnson Outdoors Inc. or buy now because the company has a great potential for earnings growth in the future.
