Abstract
This project sets forth a four-lesson financial aid curriculum targeted for students in their junior year of high school. The current student loan crisis has garnered significant attention and concern, but until meaningful changes are implemented on a public policy level, educating potential borrowers about financial aid should be a top priority. Accordingly, the purpose of this curriculum is to provide students with information necessary to make informed decisions about their future. Lessons are focused on exposure to available types of financial aid, an overview of financial aid terminology, understanding interest rates, and examining the reality of repayment. High school counselors play an influential role in assisting students with post-secondary planning, which makes them an ideal resource for implementing this curriculum in a classroom setting.
