Abstract
Posttraumatic stress disorder, or PTSD is one of the most diagnosed disorders that can affect anyone. PTSD symptoms can be caused by a traumatic event experienced by an individual. Research confirms that PTSD symptoms will not go away on their own and can be long lasting if not treated. Studies have shown the most effective treatment for PTSD is Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Existing literature focuses primarily on adults or children. There is little research that focuses primarily on adolescents and effective treatment of PTSD. Individual therapy is usually the norm when using TF-CBT, but groups are slowly becoming more popular. A group manual will be presented that utilizes a TF-CBT approach to treating PTSD in adolescents.
