Abstract
The point of this Action Research study is to test the efficacy, and efficiency of a formative assessment called Amoeba Assessment that involves student participation. Amoeba Assessment was developed over 3 months by myself and an instructional coach at my school, Pam Daly. The assessment involves students getting out of their seats and helping in the assessment of other students once they’ve gotten the correct answer. The assessment showed an increase in participation and student affect in the classroom, as well as improved comprehension skills of all students.
