Description
Major corporations started incorporating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) into their business strategy in recent years, making DEI initiatives a focal point of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. However, an increasing number of businesses have started to reduce or stop their DEI initiatives entirely, including Target, McDonald's, Walmart, and Meta. This research investigates the cause and effects of this change, including the responses of many stakeholders and customers. In addition, we will investigate the wider ramifications for social responsibility and corporate governance. We used Node XL to gather and examine social media data from Instagram and Twitter to gain an understanding of the public conversation surrounding DEI. The analysis reveals a polarized landscape: some groups, such as conservative influencers and business leaders, support the shift, arguing that corporations should remain neutral on social and political issues, while advocacy groups, minority-owned businesses, and civil rights groups criticize the rollback of DEI programs. Sentiment analysis reveals important issues, such as the economic impact of DEI projects, political influence, and business reputation.
