Description

John P. Nemzek discusses his childhood, including jobs he held while growing up, and World War I. He also talks about his police work from the 1930s to the 1950s.

Biography

John P. Nemzek was born in Moorhead, Minnesota, on April 29, 1890. He completed the eighth grade at St. Joseph’s School, then went to work for the Great Northern Railway. He held various other construction and carpentry jobs before being hired by the Moorhead Police Department in 1930. He worked there until 1960, retiring as a Captain. He married Nora Peterson in 1911.
