Biography
Raymond Kratzke was born in Vergas, MN. He was drafted into the Army in 1942. Some of his military training included U.S. Army Anti Tank Company. Raymond’s military duties included Anti Tank squad leader and some of his assignments included Camp Adair, Oregon, and Fort Carson, Colorado. He also served a total of 195 consecutive days of combat service in Germany. Raymond was involved in Utah Beach by landing craft and also was stopped by U.S. Officials at Leipzig and Bitterfeldt, which was under the control of General Patton. After separation from the military in 1945 Raymond farmed from 1947-57 then was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a U.S. Postal Clerk for 2 years then a U.S. Postmaster from 1960-78.
